This spring our Oliver was diagnosed with complex craniosynostosis, a condition where the plates in his skull are fused together in multiple places. His health is otherwise great and he couldn't be a happier boy. He will need at least one corrective surgery to reshape his skull. This blog is to give updated information and ways to pray for him and his mom, dad, and older brother.

Surgery date is now set for May 29th.
Oliver will have surgery May 29th at 8:15 am at Rady's Children's Hospital in San Diego. The surgeons expect the surgery to last 3-5 hours and he will remain in the hospital 3-5 days. This is a relief to get the surgery scheduled but also a time to pray for his doctors and his family. They will be reshaping his eye orbits and his skull which involves removing pieces of the skull and putting them back together. Please pray for our craniofacial plastic surgeon Dr. Cohen, and our Neurosurgeon Dr. Meltzer. We are blessed to have such a gifted surgical team.

ReplyDeleteJamie & Family - the Mikulak's have you in our hearts and minds as May 29th approaches. It will be a grueling day for you parents, but I know your little "patient" will weather the storm in a most amazing way. Please let us know if we can help in any way, answer any hospital questions, etc.
